Ingredients:
- 500g ground beef
- 2 sheets of frozen puff pastry
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
To start off, preheat your oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, carrot, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, thyme, salt and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
Instructions:
- Place a sheet of thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it in half lengthwise.
- Take 1/4 of the meat mixture and roll it into a sausage shape. Place it along the length of the pastry strip, leaving a small gap at either end.
- Brush one edge of the pastry with beaten egg and fold the other edge over the meat to form a roll. Repeat with the remaining meat mixture and pastry.
- Place the sausage rolls onto the prepared baking tray and brush with beaten egg. Cut each roll into smaller pieces, if desired.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
