Hey y’all! Today, I am sharing a delicious recipe for clam chowder that you can easily whip up in your own kitchen. This rich and creamy clam chowder will definitely hit the spot on a chilly day, and it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser at any gathering.
First up, let’s take a look at our ingredients:
– 5 slices of bacon, diced
– 1 medium onion, diced
– 3 celery stalks, diced
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 3 Tbsp flour
– 4 cups chicken broth
– 2 cups heavy cream
– 4-5 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
– 3 cans of clams, drained
– Salt and pepper to taste
Now that we have all of our ingredients ready to go, let’s jump right into the recipe!
Start by frying the diced bacon in a large pot until it’s nice and crispy. Remove the bacon and set it aside, but leave the bacon drippings in the pot.
Add the diced onion and celery to the pot and sauté for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender. Then, add the minced garlic and continue to sauté for another minute.
Stir in the flour and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the mixture is lightly browned and bubbly.
Slowly pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Add the diced potatoes to the pot and bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce the heat to medium low and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
Next, add the drained clams and cooked bacon to the pot, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Let the chowder simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes to let all of the flavors meld together.
Now that our clam chowder is ready, let’s serve it up with some crusty bread and a garnish of fresh parsley.
