Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cubed
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Basmati rice and naan bread for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, paprika, cumin, garam masala, turmeric and salt. Add the cubed chicken and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, but up to overnight for maximum flavor.
- Preheat the broiler to high. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange the chicken in a single layer. Broil for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until charred in spots and cooked through.
- In a large saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and butter until melted and combined. Add the cooked chicken to the sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot with basmati rice and naan bread.
