Tikka Masala Recipe Food 52

Now, y’all know I love me some chicken, so when I found this recipe for Easy Chicken Tikka Masala, I knew I had to give it a try! And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

Ingredients

For the chicken:

• 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
• 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
• 1 tablespoon garam masala
• 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
• 1 tablespoon ground cumin
• 2 teaspoons kosher salt
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon ground ginger
• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

For the sauce:

• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 1 large onion, chopped
• 4 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 tablespoon garam masala
• 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
• 1 tablespoon ground cumin
• 2 teaspoons kosher salt
• 2 cups canned tomato sauce
• 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, garam masala, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, garlic powder, ginger, and cayenne. Add the chicken and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours.

2. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the chicken out in an even layer and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.

3. While the chicken is baking, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.

4. Add the garam masala, smoked paprika, cumin, and salt, and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the tomato sauce and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. Add the cream to the skillet and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 5-10 minutes, until slightly thickened.

6. Add the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to coat in the sauce. Simmer for 5-10 minutes to allow the chicken to absorb some of the flavors in the sauce.

7. Serve the chicken tikka masala over rice or with naan bread, and enjoy!
