Uh oh, y’all know what time it is – time to get cooking! And today, we’ve got a recipe that’s gonna have you and your whole crew lickin’ your lips. We’re talkin’ ’bout some good ‘ol Dutch Oven Chili, and let me tell you, this ain’t your average pot of chili.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups water or beef broth
Instructions:
- Heat up your trusty Dutch Oven (if you don’t have one, what are you waiting for?) on medium-high heat with a bit of oil.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
- Take the beef out and set it aside, but don’t drain the fat – it’s part of what’s gonna make this chili so dang tasty.
- Turn the heat down to medium and add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent and the pepper is soft.
- Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for a minute or two, stirring constantly, until the spices are fragrant.
- Add the beef back into the pot, along with the cans of beans and tomatoes. Stir everything together until it’s well combined.
- Pour in the water or beef broth and give everything one more good stir.
- Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer uncovered for at least an hour. If you want it to be even more flavorful, let it cook for longer. Just make sure to stir it every now and then so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot.
- Once the chili is done, let it cool for a bit before serving so you don’t burn your tongue (we speak from experience).
