Cabbage with Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 2 chicken breasts, sliced into thin pieces
  • 1 small head of cabbage, sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt (divided into two parts)
  • Green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the chicken breasts with ½ tsp salt and black pepper. Add the sliced chicken breasts to the frying pan and cook it for about 7 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the cooked chicken from the frying pan and set it aside.
  3. In the same frying pan, add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and saute the garlic and onion for 2 minutes or until fragrant. Then, add the grated ginger and stir it in.
  4. Add the sliced cabbage to the frying pan and stir it around for 3 minutes. Season it with ½ tsp of salt and soy sauce. Cover the frying pan and let the cabbage cook for another 2-3 minutes or until it is tender-crisp.
  5. Add the cooked chicken back into the frying pan with the cabbage mixture. Stir it around for 1-2 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through thoroughly.
  6. Garnish it with chopped green onions and serve it hot with steamed rice.

  2. Add the sliced cabbage to the frying pan and cook for 2-3 minutes or until it is slightly wilted.
  3. Add garlic and ginger to the frying pan and stir until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, corn starch, and water.
  5. Pour the sauce over the cabbage and mix well. Cover the frying pan and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
  6. Add the chicken back to the frying pan and toss it around until it’s heated through.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving over steamed rice.
