Chili Sauce From Scratch Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 can tomato sauce (15 ounces)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (15 ounces)
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed (15 ounces)
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed (15 ounces)
Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and beans to the pot and bring to a simmer. Cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
From-Scratch Chili Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 red bell peppers, chopped
- 2 cans diced tomatoes (28 ounces each)
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed (15 ounces)
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed (15 ounces)
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
Instructions:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Add the onions and bell peppers and cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and their juice, beans, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and garlic to the pot.
- Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
