Instructions

Preheat oven to 200°F to keep the fish and chips warm while frying batches.
Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl of cold water and set aside.
Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and cayenne pepper together in a bowl. Whisk in the chilled beer until the batter is smooth and free of lumps.
Pat the cod filets dry with paper towels and then dip them in the batter, one at a time, shaking off any excess.
