Italian Seafood Pasta with Mussels and Calamari
First up, we’ve got this amazing pasta dish that we found from Cook Smarts. Let’s get to the main event and the star of the show – the mussels and calamari. We’re not usually ones to play favorites, but when it comes to seafood, these two are hard to beat. Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. linguine pasta
- 1 cup of white wine
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, chopped
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 lb. mussels, scrubbed and bearded
- 1 lb. calamari, cut into rings
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Parsley for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Now, let’s get cookin’!
Instructions:
- Cook the linguine in a large pot of boiling water according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Meanwhile, heat the butter in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add in the onions and garlic and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add in the mussels and cover the pan. Cook until the mussels have opened, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the mussels from the pan and set aside in a bowl.
- Add the calamari to the remaining liquid and cook for about 3 minutes until it is tender.
- Add the cooked linguine and mussels to the pan, toss with the calamari and coat everything in the sauce.
- Squeeze the lemon over everything and sprinkle with parsley, salt, and pepper to taste.

- 1/2 lb. of medium cooked shrimp, rinsed and shelled
- 1/2 lb. of calamari rings, rinsed and drained
- 1/2 lb. of mussels, steamed, shelled and chopped
- 1/2 lb. of arugula, rinsed dry and trimmed
- 1/3 cup of olive oil
- 4 tbsp. of white wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp. of dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp. of salt
- 1/4 tsp. of black pepper
- 1 lemon, sliced
Let’s get mixing!
Instructions:
- Mix the arugula, calamari rings, shrimp, and mussels in a large bowl.
- Whisk together the olive oil, white wine vinegar, oregano, salt, and pepper and pour over the seafood mixture.
- Toss everything together until it’s all coated in the dressing.
- Chill the salad in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- When ready to serve, garnish with lemon slices.
