Recipe 1: Award-Winning Shepherd’s Pie
If you’re looking for the ultimate comfort food, this Shepherd’s Pie recipe is perfect for you! It’s made with ground lamb or beef, vegetables, and a creamy mashed potato topping. Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground lamb or beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup frozen carrots
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened.
- Add the ground lamb or beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain off the fat.
- Add the salt, black pepper, all-purpose flour, and tomato paste to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Add the frozen peas and carrots to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Simmer the mixture until it has thickened, about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the mixture.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake the Shepherd’s Pie until it’s golden brown and bubbling, about 30 minutes.
Recipe 2: Traditional Shepherd’s Pie with Ground Beef
If you prefer to use ground beef instead of lamb, this recipe is perfect for you! It’s a simple but flavorful dish that your whole family will enjoy. Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped

- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15.25 ounces) corn, drained
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain off the fat.
- Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
- Add the salt, black pepper, diced tomatoes, and corn to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Simmer the mixture until it has thickened, about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the mixture.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the mashed potatoes.
