Shepherd’s Pie is a classic comfort food that is loved by many. There are so many different variations of this dish, but today I want to share with you two of my favorites. I found these recipes online and gave them a try, and they did not disappoint! Here are the recipes for Easy Shepherd’s Pie and Guinness Shepherd’s Pie.
Easy Shepherd’s Pie
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup carrots, chopped
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and carrots until beef is browned.
- Add peas, tomato sauce, and garlic powder. Stir well.
- Simmer for 5-10 minutes.
- Spoon beef mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Top with mashed potatoes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until potatoes are golden brown.
Guinness Shepherd’s Pie
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 carrots, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup Guinness beer
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned.
- Add carrots and garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until carrots are softened.
- Stir in tomato sauce, beef broth, Guinness, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until sauce has thickened.
- Spoon beef mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Top with mashed potatoes.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until potatoes are golden brown.
